Spanish Steps

a journey round Spain's lesser known DOs

Rioja sells.  The other regions, less famous, can sometimes struggle.  Spanish Steps is an educational brand that takes the consumer on a vinous journey through Spain's lesser known wine regions.  Five wineries from the region of Castilla y Leon have been working hand in hand with us to create a single brand to deliver a variety of interesting flavours to the final consumer.  See the full story on www.spanishstepswine.com.  We also have a Powerpoint presentation here

Spanish Steps Rueda 2012
made from 100% Verdejo   Crisp clean, steely dry white with some 'sur lie' character

Spanish Steps Arribes red 2012

The Arribes region lies on the 'International Douro/Duero', right next to the Portuguese border.  The Juan García grape holds sway here.  High in acidity it is perfect for making delicious red wine with a vivid colour and brilliant red-fruit character.  Ours has a lick of French oak too.

Spanish Steps Toro 2011/12
From the ultra-modern Monte La Reina winery, here are Toro wines that are full of character and flavour yet frighteningly easy to drink.  100% Tempranillo (known here as Tinta de Toro)

Spanish Steps Ribera del Duero 2010
winner of the Silver medal at the Decanter World Wine Awrads 2013.   Rich ripe and seductive tempranillo - liquid velvet!

Spanish Steps Bierzo 2011

winner of the bronze medal at the Decanter World Wine Awrads 2013.  Chunky red wine with bright fruit flavour, rich dense body, and a rounded finish.  100% Mencia grape variety

The full range is available in Ireland through Classic Drinks

In Norway the Bierzo, Ribera del Duero and Arribes wines are available through Symposium wines, via the special order list of Vinmonopolet; the Bierzo is in full distribution
