Quinta Nova
(de Nossa Senhora do Carmo)
Douro
Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is located just west of Pinhao on the northern side of the river. As well as being an excellent vineyard estate it is also a top-awarded hotel retreat, well worth a visit when you are in this part of the world. There is a train service from Porto - one the 'great railway journeys of the world'. Ferrão station is at the foot of the vineyard. Here is a brochure explaing the current tourism offer for 2013, including all the facilities, meal options, walking routes and much much more
Quinta Nova was awarded two gold medals in the 2008 International Wine Challenge for their Touriga Nacional and Quinta Nova reserve wines (available ex cellars). See www.quintanova.com

Port wines
Cla - Reserve port – 75 cl
Cleverly packaged, made for group drinking! Cla - is Portuguese for clan.
Quinta Nova LBV 2007 – 75cl
virtually a match for vintage port, in our humble opinion. Very fine, single estate, traditional 'Late Bottled' vintage port.
Simon Woods again - this time with the ports
For Portuguese speakers, here is the TV programme 'hora de baco' which features Quinta Nova
