Quinta de Gomariz, Vinho Verde

A young vineyard just six years old, Quinta de Gomariz is a  27 Hectare estate with 17 Ha (43 acre) under vine located near Santo Tirso in the Ave sub region of Vinho Verde.  The wines are characterised by their purity, elegance and lightness of touch, whilst maintaining crisp acidity, minerality and finesse.  Beautifully balanced they are powerful and intense without being weighty.

Alvarinho, Loureiro, Avesso, Azal, Trajadura, Padeiro, Espadeiro and the iconic Vinhao (red tenturier varietal) are all planted.

These wines are represented in the UK exclusively by Ellis of Richmond; distribution is sought in the Irish and Norwegian markets.

Quinta de Gomariz swept the board at the 2010 Vinho Verde awards.  Read the Decanter article here

In 2011 they won several bronze and silver awards in the International Wine Challenge.  The wine is distributed in the UK by Ellis of Richmond

The white wines

Quinta de Gomariz 2010, Alvarinho
- flinty with red apple, quince and stone fruit aromas; mineral notes on the palate, with a long finish

Quinta de Gomariz 2010, Loureiro
- dry, crisp, notes of citrus fuits, with some flowery aromas

Quinta de Gomariz 2010, Avesso
- clean, floral.

Quinta de Gomariz 2010, Azal

Quinta de Gomariz 2010, Grande Escolha
this 'grand selection' is from Alvarinho and Trajadura.  A deeper and much riper 'maduro' style, with more weight in the mouth.  Elegant and long

Quinta de Gomariz 2010, Padeiro rosé
bright pink wine with a flavour of red fruits, balanced with fresh acidity

Quinta de Gomariz 2010, Espadeiro rosé
salmon pink, fresh acidity and wildflower aromas

Red wine

Quinta de Gomariz 2010, Vinhao
vigorous acidity, inky purple in colour, a real speciality, and not for the faint-hearted!
